What Is a Good Bot?

A good bot is automated software whose visits benefit, or at least respect, the website it crawls: search engine crawlers that make pages findable, uptime and performance monitors, feed fetchers, link-preview generators for messengers and social platforms, and archival crawlers preserving the public web. The Etiquette That Defines Them
